St. Francis of Assisi, Confessor

S. Francisci Confessoris

After Pentecost

Gal 6:14

v. But as for me, God forbid that I should glory, save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

Ps 141:2

With a loud voice I cry out to the Lord; with a loud voice I beseech the Lord.

v. But as for me, God forbid that I should glory, save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world.

Amen.

O God, Who by the good works of blessed Francis enriched Your Church by establishing a new religious family, grant us to imitate him by emulation of him, by looking upon the things of earth as nought and ever to rejoice in sharing Your heavenly gifts.

Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Amen.

Gal 6:14-18

Lesson from the letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Galatians

Brethren: But as for me, God forbid that I should glory, save in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through Whom the world is crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision but a new creation is of any account. And whoever follows this rule, peace and mercy upon them, even upon the Israel of God.

Henceforth let no man give me trouble, for I bear the marks of the Lord Jesus Christ in my body. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brethren. Amen.

Ps 36:30-31

The mouth of the just man tells of wisdom, and his tongue utters what is right.

V. The law of his God is in his heart, and his steps do not falter. Alleluia, alleluia.

V. Francis, poor and humble, enters heaven a rich man, welcomed with celestial hymns. Alleluia.

Ps 111:1-3

Beátus vir, qui timet Dóminum: in mandátis ejus cupit nimis.

V. Potens in terra erit semen ejus: generátio rectórum benedicétur.

V. Glória et divítiæ in domo ejus: et justítia ejus manet in sǽculum sǽculi.

Matt 11:25-30

Continuation + of the Holy Gospel according to Matthew

At that time, Jesus spoke and said, I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You hid these things from the wise and prudent, and revealed them to little ones. Yes, Father, for such was Your good pleasure. All things have been delivered to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and him to whom the Son chooses to reveal Him.

Come to Me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn from Me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden light.

Ps 33:12

Veníte, fílii, audíte me: timórem Dómini docébo vos.

Come, children, hear me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Amen.

Accept, O Lord, this pure offering of the saving Host, and grant, that loving You in all and above all, we may be found worthy to live for the praise of Your glory.

Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Amen.

Rom 4:18

Hoping against hope he believed, so that he became father of many nations, according to what was said to him.

Amen.

May heavenly grace, we beseech You, O Lord, increase Your Church, which You mercifully enlightened by the glorious virtues and example of blessed Francis, Your Confessor.

Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Amen.
