Little Way is a Catholic prayer app inspired by St. Thérèse of Lisieux. Your prayer life is sacred and private. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.
Most of your data never leaves your phone. The following is stored locally using Apple’s SwiftData framework:
This data is stored only on your device and is not accessible to us unless you opt in to cloud backup.
Your nightly Examen entries, daily intentions, spiritual focus, and Gospel reflections are stored only on your device. We cannot see them. No one can. They never leave your phone unless you explicitly opt in to cloud backup (premium feature), in which case they are stored encrypted and accessible only to you.
Think of it like a journal locked in your nightstand. We built the nightstand — we don’t have the key.
When you submit a prayer intention to the Garden of Intercession, the following is sent to our server:
Intentions are visible to the community so others can pray for you. If you choose to remain anonymous, no identifying information is shared. When you add a flower to someone’s intention, only the flower type is recorded. If you choose “Offer in hiddenness,” your name is not stored at all.
Intentions automatically expire after 7 days and are moved to a completed archive.
If you subscribe to Little Way Premium and sign in with Apple, you may choose to back up your prayer data to our servers. This includes your bouquets, offerings, examen entries, intentions, and preferences.
When you share a bouquet as a gift, the following is sent to our server to create a shareable link:
This data is stored so the recipient can view the gift page. Shared bouquets are accessible to anyone with the link.
When you create or contribute to a prayer page, the following is sent to our server:
Prayer pages are designed to be shared with others. Contributions are visible to anyone with the link.
When you tap “I’m praying too” on a prayer page in your web browser, we store only your name (optional) and the time of your prayer. No account or download is required.
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment information. We only check your entitlement status locally on your device.
Little Way may request permission to send local notifications for prayer reminders. These notifications are scheduled entirely on your device. No notification data is sent to our servers.
We generate a random 16-character identifier stored on your device, used only to verify prayer page ownership (so only creators can post updates). This is not an Apple device identifier and cannot be used to track you across apps.
Little Way does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The app does not require an account to use its core features.
We may update this policy as the app evolves. Significant changes will be noted in the app. The latest version is always available at littleway.app/privacy.
