After Pentecost · Preface of Blessed Virgin Mary

Heb 4:16

v. Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Ps 44:2

My Heart overflows with a goodly theme; as I sing my ode to the King.

v. Let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Amen.

Almighty, everlasting God, Who in the Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary prepared a dwelling place worthy of the Holy Spirit; graciously grant that we, who are devoutly keeping the feast of her Immaculate Heart, may be able to live according to Your Heart.

Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Amen.

Judith 13:22-25; 13:15; 13:10

Lesson from the book of Judith

The Lord has blessed you by His power, because by you He has brought our enemies to nought. Blessed are you, O daughter, by the Lord the Most High God, above all women upon the earth. Blessed be the Lord Who made heaven and earth, Who has directed you to the cutting off the head of the prince of our enemies, because He has so magnified your name this day, that your praise shall not depart out of the mouth of men, who shall be mindful of the power of the Lord forever; for you have not spared your life, by reason of the distress and tribulation of your people, but have prevented our ruin in the presence of our God.

You are the glory of Jerusalem, you are the joy of Israel, you are the honor of our people.

Ps 12:6

Exsultábit cor meum in salutári tuo: cantábo Dómino, qui bona tríbuit mihi: et psallam nómini Dómini altíssimi.

Ps 44:18

Mémores erunt nóminis tui in omni generatióne et generatiónem: proptérea pópuli confitebúntur tibi in ætérnum. Allelúja, allelúja.

Luc 1:46; 1:47

Magníficat ánima mea Dóminum: et exsultávit spíritus meus in Deo salutári meo. Allelúja.

Let my Heart rejoice in Your salvation; let me sing of the Lord, He has been good to me. Yes, I will sing to the name of the Lord, Most High.

Ps 44:18

V. They shall remember Your name throughout all generations; therefore shall nations praise You forever and ever. Alleluia, alleluia.

Luke 1:46-47

V. My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour. Alleluia.

Prov 8:32-35

Nunc ergo, fílii, audíte me: Beáti qui custódiunt vias meas.

V. Qui me invénerit, invéniet vitam, et háuriet salútem a Dómino.

So now, O children, listen to me; happy those who keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.

V. Happy the man who obeys me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at my doorposts.

V. For he who finds me finds life, and wins favor from the Lord.

John 19:25-27

Continuation + of the Holy Gospel according to John

At that time, there were standing by the Cross of Jesus, His Mother, and His Mother’s sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalen. When Jesus, therefore, saw His Mother and the disciple standing by, whom He loved, He said to His Mother, Woman, behold your son. Then He said to the disciple, Behold, your mother.

And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

Luke 1:47, 49

My spirit rejoices in God my Saviour; because He Who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name.

Amen.

Offering the spotless Lamb to Your Majesty, O Lord, we pray that our hearts may be set aflame by the fire that burned so wondrously in the Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Through the same Jesus Christ, thy Son, Our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Amen.

John 19:27

Jesus said to His Mother, Woman, behold your son. Then He said to the disciple, Behold your mother. And from that hour the disciple took her into his home.

Divínis refécti munéribus te, Dómine, supplíciter exorámus: ut beátæ Maríæ Vírginis intercessióne, cujus immaculáti Cordis solémnia venerándo égimus, a præséntibus perículis liberáti, ætérnæ vitæ gáudia consequámur.

Amen.

Refreshed by divine gifts, we humbly beseech You, O Lord, that by the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the solemn feast of whose Immaculate Heart we have celebrated, we may be freed from present dangers and reach the happiness of life eternal.

Through Jesus Christ, thy Son our Lord, Who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, world without end.

Amen.
