Day 50 of 80

Only Love

Chapter XII·Manuscript C·Love
Context
As tuberculosis slowly consumed her, Thérèse said sickness was 'too slow' — she could only rely on Love to bring her to God. She continued the community's daily routine despite exhaustion, her suffering hidden behind joy, following Christ's path to Calvary step by step.

"Truly sickness is too slow a liberator," exclaimed our dear little Sister, "I can only rely upon Love."

Like her Divine Master, she passed through the world doing good; like Him, she had been forgotten and unknown, and now, still following in His Footsteps, she was to climb the hill of Calvary. Accustomed to see her always suffering, yet always joyous and brave, Mother Prioress allowed her to take part in the Community exercises, some of which tired her extremely.
